How to remove unwanted hyperlinks

While you can select a hyperlink in, say, text you are importing into a Word document, and then press Ctrl-K to bring up the Edit Hyperlink dialogue, it is quicker to right-click on the hyperlink  and choose Remove Hyperlink from the context menu.

You can remove all links in your Word document very simply. Just press Ctrl-A to select the entire document and Ctrl-Shift-F9 to convert all the links into text. However, this technique affects other fields as well, turning the fields into text using the field result. For example, if you've inserted a date field to show the current date, selecting the field and pressing Ctrl-Shift-F9 will turn it into text so the date won't change from one day to the next. To avoid converting such fields to text, select just a portion of the document, being careful not to include the fields you don't want to convert, and then press Ctrl-Shift-F9, repeating as many times as necessary for the entire document. This isn't as easy as selecting the entire document at once using Ctrl-A, but it is still faster than removing each link individually.

Star- and Open- Office don't offer these key options. To remove a hyperlink, select it and then use Format/Default. While you can use Ctrl-A to select the entire document, Format/Default will reformat the entire document to the Normal (default) style, unless you format the selected text to another style. This reformatting limits the Ctrl-A option to where you have a large chunk of text that you want entirely in a particular style, unless you are prepared to restore headings etc. Note, though, that Format/Default will not remove inserted fields, but will only reformat their appearance.
