Page breaks dancing about?

Have you ever noticed that, some versions of MS Word cause page breaks to dance about? This dance is Word's Background Repagination feature at work, constantly surveying the length of your document and inserting page breaks where it thinks they belong, taking into account your orphan and widows settings, where headings fall and other such settings that affect where the page break should occur.

If you don't like this for some reason, you can choose Tools, Options, and then click the General tab and uncheck the Background Repagination box. If you do this, Word will repaginate only when you print the document; create a table of contents, index, or other table; or work in Page Layout or Print Preview view.

In StarOffice/OpenOffice, click on Format/Auto format and remove the tick from beside While Typing. You can also set the formatting options referred to earlier to control where the page breaks are inserted.
