Customise the Places Bar

In Windows XP, you can customise the Places Bar in the Open and Save As dialogues, using the Tweak UI PowerToy (downloadable from www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp). When you run Tweak UI, go to Common Dialogs | Places Bar on the hierarchical list; this is where you can change the folders that appear in the Places Bar. Note that you can have only up to five places, and for each your choice is limited to certain system folders (such as History, My Pictures, and so on).

Another great tool for configuring any version of Windows is FreshDevices FreshUI (from www.freshdevices.com). This tool is free for personal use and customises all versions of Windows.
