Decorative borders

By scanning real-world objects, you can create interesting and unique backgrounds for Web pages, as well as borders and graphics for documents. Try scanning paper clips, candy, cookies, nuts, or even fabric to see what is possible. Place the objects on the scanner in the position you want them to appear in the final scan, remembering that objects at the front of the image should be placed closest to the scanner glass. If you're creating a page border, arrange the objects so they'll appear about a half-inch inside the edge of an A4 page. Scan at 100 percent and 150-300 dpi for a good compromise between file size and resolution.
