Nudge it along

In Microsoft Publisher, if you want to move objects precisely, use Alt and the cursor keys to move them around. Go to Arrange/Nudge to change the increment that each keystroke moves the object.

In StarOffice/OpenOffice.org, the Alt + cursor key method will also allow you to position objects precisely, although you will have to be content with the preset increment. Note that this method does not work in Microsoft Word. By clicking on the object and then on the Format/Graphics, you will find that the Type tab allows you to position the object at a precise distance from the left margin and the top margin. This also does not work in Word, illustrating the more versatile graphics handling of StarOffice and OpenOffice.org.

In NewDeal Office, click on Graphics/Arrange/Move and choose which direction you wish to nudge the inserted object in. You can also define a custom move in inches, centimetres, points or picas. Note that inserted text boxes can also be nudged around as if they were graphics.
