Where to start?

 

One of the most intimidating things about genealogical research is the steep learning curve - just knowing where to start. But it doesn't have to be.

 

Type "How to do genealogy research" into Google, or some other good search engine and you will find lots of help as well as hundreds of links to websites set up by other researchers. If luck is on your side, someone will already have researched part of your family history because of common ancestry.

 

Another good starting point is to join a genealogy or family history group and profit from other people's experience. The Hobart branch of the Tasmanian Family History Society Inc. can be found at:
